Buckets

  • Create a bucket by picking a plan for the capacity, giving it a name, and optionally turning on object versioning.
  • Choose visibility per bucket: private by default, or public read for serving assets over a plain URL.
  • Watch used space, object count and quota live, and resize to a larger plan when a bucket fills.
  • Group buckets into projects alongside apps and servers.

Access and security

Access keysS3 key pairs, an access key ID and a secret. Create as many as the setup needs and revoke any of them instantly.
Presigned URLsTime-limited signed URLs for a private bucket, for downloads (GET) or uploads (PUT).
Public URLsA public-read bucket serves objects over a direct URL, which suits images and static assets.

Connect a bucket to an app

Wiring a bucket into an AletCloud app takes one action. A scoped key is minted and the standard AWS environment variables, endpoint, region, bucket and credentials, are injected into the app.

Use it with any S3 tool

Anything that speaks the S3 API works by being pointed at the AletCloud endpoint with a key pair: the AWS SDKs, aws-cli, s3cmd and most libraries.

What it costs

A bucket carries a monthly price for its capacity, from 50 ETB/mo for 5 GB up to 750 ETB/mo for 100 GB, and is charged by the minute against it. Each bucket has its own capacity and its own figure, so a small one for invoices can sit beside a large one for video without either paying for the other.

Creating a bucket checks the wallet for a day of it first. The data stays in Ethiopia.
