Add the records, then Check DNS
For a domain hosted elsewhere, the DNS tab lists the exact MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records to add at the provider. Press Check DNS and each one comes back ok, missing or incorrect, with the value found beside the value expected. The service turns Active once MX, SPF and DKIM verify.

Create the mailboxes
An address, an optional display name, and a recovery email or phone. Leave the password blank and a strong one is generated and shown once. Mailboxes can be made while the DNS is still pending, and they sign in at webmail.aletcloud.com or from any mail app.

What every plan carries.
All seven on Starter as much as on Enterprise. What changes between the plans is mailboxes, storage and sending limits, and whether a catch-all address and a dedicated IP come with them.
Alet Mail webmail
Nothing to install. Open webmail.aletcloud.com in any browser, sign in with the full address, and read and send from there.
Works in every mail app
IMAP and SMTP over SSL/TLS, for Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, the Gmail app, iPhone and Android mail. Auto-setup records let the apps that support them find the settings on their own.
Authenticated sending
SPF, DKIM and DMARC records generated for the domain, and a Check DNS that marks each one ok, missing or incorrect rather than leaving you to guess.
Mailboxes you control
Create, suspend, reset and delete mailboxes from the console. A generated password is shown once, and a suspended mailbox keeps its mail.
Data stays in Ethiopia
Mail is stored on AletCloud infrastructure in Addis Ababa, a few milliseconds from the people reading it and inside Ethiopian jurisdiction.

A mailbox here is IMAP and SMTP over SSL/TLS, which is what Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, the Gmail app, and the mail on an iPhone or an Android phone all speak. There is no AletCloud app to install, because the protocol is nobody's in particular.

- One plan covers one domain
- Every mailbox on the domain sits under the same plan. A second domain is a second email service, with a plan and a figure of its own.
- The monthly figure is a ceiling
- Underneath it the plan is charged by the minute, Starter at 0.68 ETB an hour. Creating a service checks the wallet for about a day of it first, around 16 ETB on Starter, and deleting it stops the charge at that minute.
- An empty wallet suspends, it does not delete
- Sign-in and sending stop, but incoming mail is still received and stored. Top up and the service is back within a few minutes, mailboxes and mail intact.
- Catch-all and a dedicated IP
- From Business up, an address that collects mail sent to anything on the domain that has no mailbox of its own. Enterprise adds an IP address of its own.

Yes. Business Email runs on a domain you own. Register one with AletCloud and the mail records are published for you. Bring one hosted elsewhere and add the MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records the console shows you, then press Check DNS.
How is it billed?
One plan covers one domain and every mailbox on it. The plan has a monthly price, from 499 ETB on Starter, charged by the minute from the wallet like a server. Delete the service and the charge stops at that minute. An empty wallet suspends sending and sign-in, but incoming mail is still received and kept.
Which mail apps work?
Any IMAP or SMTP client: Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, the Gmail app, iPhone and Android mail, plus the Alet Mail webmail at webmail.aletcloud.com. The server is mx1.aletcloud.com, IMAP on port 993 and SMTP on port 465, both over SSL/TLS.
